Apply to teach with Novel
Thanks for your interest in teaching with Novel. We provide 1:1 online literacy and math tutoring for students across Canada and the US, many of them kids with learning differences.
The application takes about 10 minutes, plus a few minutes to record your answers on video. There are no trick questions. We’re looking for real examples from your experience, in your own words.
How It Works:
1. Fill in the form below – about 10 minutes: your eligibility, availability and teaching background.
2. Record your video answers – five short questions about real moments from your teaching.
3. We read every application – you’ll hear back within 3-5 business days either way.
4. Interview – if it’s a fit, we’ll invite you to a video conversation with our team.
Before You Start:
Vulnerable Sector Check – A current check, or willingness to get one before your first session.
Location – You are legally entitled to work in Canada.
Availability – Most sessions run after school, 4–7 p.m.(EST) on weekdays. Tutors who can hold those hours are matched with the most students.
Your Video Answers:
What to record – Answer the five questions in the form, about 2 minutes each. One video or five, whichever is easier.
Keep it simple – A phone or laptop camera is fine. No editing or scripts needed; we want to hear you talk about real moments.
How to share – Upload to YouTube as Unlisted, or to Google Drive with “Anyone with the link can view.”
Check your link – Open it in a private/incognito window before you submit to make sure we can see it.
